CHECKIT* “House” by Nobuhiko Obayashi

“House” was the debut film of Nobuhiko Obayashi who had already honed a distinct visual style from directing TV commercials. The movie has the same campy horror vibe as a lot of Italian giallos, but with even more randomness in the plot and images. Parts of the movie feel like early era MTV experiments (think Peter Gabriel) and others seem lifted straight from a fantasy soap opera. I’ve watched it a few times with the sound off and think I might prefer it that way. Beware, the scenes with the cat are ridiculously hilarious.

A fun shoot with some stellar people involved. We combined two songs into one strange video.
I think a few traffic laws might have been broken, but they were well worth it.
